What we treat

Sleep, insomnia and sleep apnea

We evaluate insomnia and screen for obstructive sleep apnea, because poor sleep drives a surprising amount of what people come in for.

Common situations

What people bring us

  • Being handed a sleeping pill without anyone asking why you are not sleeping.
  • Sleep apnea left unscreened, despite being common and very treatable.
  • Sleep discussed as a lifestyle topic rather than as medicine.

How we approach it

What your care includes

01

We look for the cause

Apnea, hormones, medication, alcohol, anxiety, pain. Insomnia is a symptom, and treating it without finding the cause rarely works for long.

02

Apnea screening as standard

Sleep apnea is common, often undiagnosed, and drives blood pressure, cardiac risk, fatigue and mood. Worth ruling in or out properly.

03

Behavioral approaches before sedatives

The evidence for behavioral treatment of insomnia is strong, and the trade-offs are considerably kinder.

When to come in

If you have been on a sleep medication for a while without anyone revisiting it, or you are tired in a way that sleep does not fix.

Do you do sleep studies?

We screen and arrange testing, including home sleep testing where appropriate, and manage what comes back.
