Travel medicine, and care wherever you happen to be
Before you go, we hold a consultation about where you are going and the real risks there. We cover the preventive medication and vaccinations that matter, and what you should have with you. While you are away, you can reach your physician in any time zone. If you need care locally, we help you find it and speak to the doctor treating you.
A large share of our members are seasonal or travel constantly, and we built the practice around that.

Who this is for
Who this helps
- You spend part of the year somewhere else and your care does not follow you.
- You are going somewhere with real health risk and want more than a printout.
- You got sick abroad once and had to explain your entire history to a stranger.
- You are managing a chronic condition and travel makes it harder to stay on top of.
- You are taking an elderly parent, or traveling with one, and want a plan first.
What it involves
How this works
Destination-specific risk assessment
Not a generic travel handout. What is a concern where you are going, given your own health and what you will be doing there.
Preventive medication and vaccination
Malaria prophylaxis, altitude, traveler's illness, and the vaccinations appropriate to the destination.
A physician you can reach from anywhere
Any time zone. The person who answers already has your history rather than meeting you cold.
We call the doctor treating you
If you end up in front of a physician somewhere else, we get on the phone with them and send your records, so they are not starting from zero.
Coordination with international care teams
If you need ongoing care abroad, we work with the team providing it rather than leaving you to translate between two systems.
Side by side
Exactly what is different at Naples Concierge Health
| The usual experience | What we do |
|---|---|
| A generic travel handout for the whole country you are visiting. | A risk assessment for where you are going, and what you will be doing there. |
| Records sent eventually, if someone remembers to request them. | We request and transfer your records, wherever you are. |
| You explain your history to a stranger, from memory, while unwell. | Your physician speaks to the doctor treating you, directly. |
| Your practice is closed and it is the middle of the night there. | You reach a physician who knows you, in any time zone. |
| You come home and the follow-up is left to you to arrange. | What happened abroad lands in your record and your plan. |
In more detail
What you should know
What a pre-travel consultation covers
It starts with the specifics: where exactly, for how long, what you will be doing, where you will be staying, and what medical care exists nearby. Rural Tanzania and a conference hotel in Singapore are both "international travel" and have almost nothing in common in terms of risk.
Then we look at your own health: age, chronic conditions, immune status, medications, and how you have handled travel before. A blood pressure medication that is fine in Naples can be a real problem at altitude. A condition that is well controlled at home is still worth planning around when you are twelve hours from a hospital.
Out of that comes what to take, what to be vaccinated against, what to avoid, and what to do if something happens. You also get a written plan you can refer to while you are away.
Getting sick somewhere else, and what usually goes wrong
The failure is almost never the local doctor. The problem is that they are meeting you for the first time without your history, often across a language barrier. Meanwhile you are unwell, frightened and trying to recite a medication list from memory.
We take that burden off you. We help you find care where you are and send your records. Then your physician calls the doctor treating you, so they have the context they need without you having to supply it.
When you are home again, the care you received abroad goes into your record and into your plan.
The honest limits of care across a border
There are real constraints on what any US physician can do for you in another country, and they are legal rather than clinical. Prescribing across state lines is already regulated; across a national border it is more so.
So we are precise about the distinction. We can always provide guidance, coordination and records, and we can always speak to your treating physician. Formal treatment and prescribing depend on where you are. We will tell you plainly which side of that line your situation falls on, so you do not discover it at the worst moment.
Where we are not the answer
Across a border we provide guidance, coordination and records rather than formal treatment. Licensing rules limit what any US physician can do for you overseas, and we will tell you where that line falls.
Questions
What people ask
Do you give travel vaccines in your office?
We give common travel vaccinations directly. Some specialized ones, yellow fever in particular, require a certified center, and we refer you for those.
Can you prescribe for me while I am out of the country?
It depends where you are. Licensing rules differ by state and country and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot do from here. Guidance and coordination we can always provide.
How far ahead should I book a pre-travel visit?
Four to six weeks where you can, because some vaccinations need time to take effect. Less notice than that is still worth acting on, so call us.
What if I get sick somewhere with poor medical care?
Call us first. We can help you judge which local care is worth using and whether a situation warrants evacuation or a move to a larger city. That judgment is best made quickly rather than after a bad night.
Can you help my elderly parent prepare for a trip?
Yes, and it is worth doing. Travel is harder on someone managing several conditions. A plan made beforehand prevents most of what goes wrong: medication supply, what to do if something happens, and who to call.
Do you handle travel insurance or medical evacuation?
We are not an insurer and do not sell coverage. We will tell you honestly whether your trip warrants evacuation coverage. That question is worth asking before you travel rather than after.
