What we treat

High cholesterol and cardiovascular risk

We work out what your cholesterol means for your risk, using advanced lipid testing where the standard panel is not enough. Then we decide together what to do about it, including trying lifestyle changes first if that is what you want.

Common situations

What people bring us

  • A statin started on one number, with no discussion of blood pressure, family history or imaging.
  • Not being told that two people with the same cholesterol can carry very different risk.
  • Wanting to try lifestyle change first and not being taken seriously about it.

How we approach it

What your care includes

01

Advanced lipid testing when it matters

Particle counts and markers the standard panel misses, particularly where there is family history or the numbers do not fit the picture.

02

Your overall cardiovascular risk

Cholesterol is one input. Blood pressure, family history, metabolic health, inflammation and imaging all belong in the same calculation.

03

Lifestyle changes first when you prefer them

You get a written plan, a date for the repeat test, and a decision once we see the result, rather than an open-ended trial.

When to come in

If you have just been told your cholesterol is high and want to understand it before starting medication, or your statin has not been reviewed in a while.

Questions

What people ask about high cholesterol

Can I try diet and exercise before medication?

In many cases yes, and we will set a timeline and a repeat test so you find out whether it worked. What we will not do is let an indefinite trial run for years while risk accumulates.
